CDIB Capital International invests across a range of strategies, including mid-market buyouts, private credit, and growth/venture capital, and multiple markets in Asia and North America. Our financial and industry expertise, regional footprint and on-the-ground local capabilities enable us to collaborate with our portfolio partners to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns to all our constituents.
CDIB Capital was established in 2006, as the private equity arm of KGI Financial (formerly knowns as "China Development Financial" or the “Group”) with the objective to deploy and diversify the Group’s proprietary capital outside of Taiwan, laying the foundation for a premier private equity asset management business.KGI Financial is one of the largest and most established merchant banking groups in Greater China and Taiwan’s first and leading direct investment firm with over 50 years of investing experience in the region. CDIB Capital has access to the breadth and strength of KGI Financial’s platform which offers a number of advantages including significant proprietary deal-sourcing, deep industry expertise, extensive network (e.g., customer introductions, access to proven management talent, etc.), capital market capabilities and a fully integrated, “one stop” financial services platform, the combination of which is typically not available to stand-alone private equity managers.
Over the past decade, CDIB Capital has refined KGI Financial’s China investment concepts and diversified its approach into several core strategies around buyout control opportunities, private credit, and growth/venture capital. We believe these represent the best opportunities in the markets we cover and for the investors we serve. In particular, in many cases, we leverage our strength and longstanding history in Taiwan to enable value-accretive cross-fertilization between China and the other closely linked economies in the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, we opportunistically pursue special situations and have the ability to support third party investment platforms, with an emphasis on strategies and geographies that complement our core competencies.
Over this same period, CDIB Capital has broadened its investor base, managing proprietary capital consistent with its historical roots and third party capital from a wide range of sources including high-net-worth individuals, family offices, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, funds of private equity funds, insurance companies and banking institutions located around the world. CDIB Capital operates independently and manages approximately US$1.2bn in proprietary and third party capital.
CDIB Capital has a regional and international presence in Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai and New York.

KGI Financial (fomerly known as "China Development Financial" or "CDF") traces its origins back to 1959, with the establishment of the China Development Corporation under the auspices of the World Bank in cooperation with the ROC government.
The institution joined both public and private resources and established Taiwan’s first private chartered financial institution, specialized in direct investment and provided financing to institutions and corporations. In 1984, CDF diversified its operations and developed its corporate and investment banking arm. The new groups enabled operations to expand incorporating additional activity such as wealth management, alternative asset management, corporate lending, leveraged financing, leasing, financial advisory, mergers and acquisitions advisory and securities underwriting.
KGI Financial had pioneered venture capital, private equity and investment banking in Taiwan and had deployed more than US$2 billion of proprietary capital in over 300 portfolio companies across the region. For over five decades, KGI Financial has remained a dominant leader in Taiwan.
